Olds Intrigue Exhaust Question

Hello everyone. I have a 2002 Intrigue wit the 3.5l and have purchased a 2.5 pipe kit that goes from the cat back. I noticed what I beleive to be a resonator that will be replaced with straight pipe unless I add it into the equation. My question is without this resonator pipe, will I get exhaust rasp, or resonance? I should also mention that I am going to throw a ZZP catted 2.5 downpipe because my cat recently took a ****, and I need to get rid of the u-bend. I have a Flowmaster muffler, and a Monza resonator tip. I am mainly doig this for a nice exhaust note, and cannot tolerate rasp it makes me crazy. Any thoughts, ideas are welcome.

Throw it on and see if you like it. If not put a glasspack where the res is supossed to be

Yeah, that's pretty much what I had planned, can't expect people to know what my sound preferance is. I would like a little extra power, but with my motor completely stock with the exception of a homebuilt cai box I don't think I would really see any increase running a straight pipe as opposed to just buying a glasspack and ensuring I won't hate how it sounds.
A resonator is essentially a glsspack, right? Everything I've read leads me to beleive so.

Just one looks better under the car

And headers would be the best way to go since you can get them for under 200$

I wish, it's the 3.5l, only place I came across that makes them wanted triple that for some headers, and I've sent an e-mail to which they didn't respond so I can't even say they still make them.

Well I spent many hours reading what the net has to offer. Turns out a glasspack restricts flow more than a stock resonator, even most factory exhaust, Kind of surprising to learn. I also learned that people are using the "bullet" type race mufflers as a resonator, so that's the route I'm taking. Thanks for the input guys, and by all means if you come across 3.5 lx-5 headers let me know!
