haha it was a pain in the butt though. At one point i said f*** it and went ham on it. Thanks for before on letting me know how to do it!
 
Is there a tool to use to get the airbag spring clips off? I want to remove mine to paint the fugly plastic things on my wheel, but I heard it's a *****.
 
there is some tool, but its not needed. you stick a screw driver that will fit in the 4 small holes in the back plastic on the wheel, then twist it, your unlocking a spring clip. pop one clip keep pulling up on that corner, then pop the the next one on the same side while keeping steady up pulling pressure to it dont lock down again, do the same for the other side.

then once its free lift it up slowly and look for the wires, unhook them all, the black one that goes straight into the column, you push it in, then turn it it will pop out.

unhook your battery before you do this, your taking off the airbag, you dont want a surprise.
 


I also read that the Yellow wire needs to be unplugged that is in the dash portion of the driver side. Something about the car storing power for a period of time after the battery is disconnected. (In a crash if the connection is severed to the battery).

Don't know if that is true though.
 
dont know about that, was always told to unhook the battery.

all that plug is under dash by the odb2 port is the other end of the airbags plug via the clock spring.

Scottydoggs replied on a thread I posted before telling me how to take the wheel off. Get a flat head screwdriver, one with a head that is wide enough to fit in each of the four holes on the back of the wheel, but short enough so that the handle end doesn't hit the gauge cluster. Then what i did was felt around for the pin and just twisted the screw driver and pulled the airbag cover off, doing one corner at a time. twisting the screw driver moves the pin out of the way just enough for the notched stud on the airbag cover to slide past the pin.

or you could buy an airbag removal tool for gm cars, they cost about $25 which i didn't do.

also make sure to disconnect battery and then pull the airbag fuse. I waited half an hour after pulling the fuse.

and it was done on my 2002 gp. I dont know what its like for an 07.
 


Looks much better. Now you need to maintain it. I use meguiar's leather sealer system to maintain all the leather on my car.
