Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

It's called a charge back scam, it's quite common...and 99% of the time the buyer will win his money back AND get the product.

Welcome to life :)

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

That does really suck. Fortunately I've never had this happen to me. It does really bother me though that ebay and paypal (never sold anything on amazon) always side with the buyer. Makes things very frustrating when something does happen.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

Yeah, I'm all for buyer protection, it has saved me a couple times from getting screwed over, but they also need to implement ways to protect sellers as well.
Who was that that sold an automatic stapler to someone on ebay and the buyer took it apart and stole the parts off it they needed to fix theirs then sent it back claiming it didn't work.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

Everyone thinks everyone is out to scam them, plus I guess its easier for them to protect the buyer who would probably complain there tail off because they got "shafted" or they assume the buyer is an angel or whatever reason. Signature and insurance is something I'll keep in mind if I ever sell on fleabay. Glad you were covered.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

I had an incident with a textbook once that I had sold on half.com. Person paid and like you, I sent it on my way. I checked the tracking number and it showed delivery with signature and everything. It was probably 6 months later, I get an email from half.com claims department demanding that I refund my money back because this person never got their book and I was not responding to the emails. Well....that didn't go over well. I told the claims guy that I had in fact sent it out and showed proof and stated that I never heard anything from the person after payment. All he said was ok, I will deal with it accordingly and sorry for bothering me. I never heard another word.

Some people are just stupid.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

Always take pics of serial numbers of the items that you are selling, this will save you as well.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

The pictures of serial number idea is perfect. Also making sure to keep a record of shipping, tracking and receipt of delivery helps too. This has saved me several times on eBay. I do a lot less business with them since they almost always side with the buyer. It is too risky and there are other auction sites.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

I almost had to ship a guy a free input shaft once, turned out it was under the bench cushion on his porch or something. They all go out signature required now.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

Never ship to a different address other than the one in PayPal. PayPal makes it clear you should ship only to address or you are liable. Buyers think an email is good enough, they need to change address in PayPal if they want it somewhere else.

Re: Dumb Ass ****ing Buyers Who Try To Scam Sellers.

Bought a phone off eBay from a guy in California, and I'm in Florida. Phone came in and it was not the phone I purchased from the auction. I emailed the guy and sent pictures, he said send it back and pay shipping. I sent it back with delivery confirmation, not signature, thought it would be enough. 2 weeks went by after it said it had been delivered and not a word, I was waiting for the correct phone to be redelivered. I emailed him twice during that time, third time I told him if I didn't get a response I was going to contest it. He gave me some line about how he's a major cell phone refurbisher and he doesn't handle returns, there's no record of it ever coming back, nor that I got the wrong phone to begin with. He went on to give me the woe is me bit about how a negative rating would "destroy" him on eBay so he'll just take the "loss" and refund the money.
