Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

Faulty crank position sensor. You're describing it almost to the T. Scan the car for codes, even if the SES light isnt on. If the car is driving normally but the issue only occurs during high RPM at WOT, why would you think that a fuel line is frozen? You'd have to have a crazy amount of water in the tank and in the lines for that to occur, and you'd definitely notice the cars piss poor performance with that much water in the fuel.

Only other question would be when was the fuel filter changed? I know most 2004's still had them, but in 2005 the went to only in the tank setups. It's doubtful that that is that problem but would be a quick easy fix.

The shutting off and multiple failed starts is what leads me to believe it's a bad crank position sensor. I would not advise driving the car until you eliminate that possibility, as that can cause severe catastrophic engine damage (I sent 1 and a half rods out the block driving the car with a bad CKPS for 20miles, normal driving)

Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

I highly doubt water in the gas tank is possible because of "lots of snow" unless you drive without a gas cap. NEVER had issue with gas even in the winters we get here.

Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

In that case, I'd place my money on it being the CKPS. You've got the classic symptoms of it.
Mine never threw a code, did what you said, wouldn't restart, wouldn't restart, wouldn't restart, then finally it did. Got it going gently, didn't want to shift, but I managed to nurse it almost home. Though about 1/2 a mile from my house it finally couldn't hold the ****ed up timing anymore and decided to delete a couple pistons/rods and a chunk of the block.

SES light never flashed did it? Kind of hoping you'd have a bad misfire due to a faulty ICM ground or something, but it really does sound like the CKPS.

Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

Cheap and easy as long as you have a damn nice air gun, and the specific bolts to pull the harmonic balancer. Also have access to an Tech2 or something that can do a CASE learn?

Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

Ahh, I hear those are awesome, I should try one sometime XD.

Hopefully that gets it fixed for you, until then, I'd advise you to keep an eye out for an SES light and watch your timing if you can. Stay out of the throttle until you can be certain that it's not the CKPS, or that it has been fixed.

Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

Just got back from the auto parts store. Despite getting no check engine light. A code did pop up. P0300. Which is multiple misfire. Could this be the crankshaft sensor

My brothers car was throwing the same code. Thought it was the 2-5 coilpack so we replaced and it did it again. Ended up being the ICM

Re: Scary **** Happened To My Car Today.

and BTW made the exhaust sound terrible and the car did nothing but chug like it was choking for air or something
