No offense but even my gf can change her own oil in her Subaru lol.
Non the less I feel speeds pain. My problem is remembering where some of the bolts go cause some are the same but longer or they fall in engine compartment grrrr!!

lets not flame this guy for not wanting to break something. If i feels he doesn't have the skill level then so be it. it takes time to get comfortable working on engines if you've never done it before.

thats why i always try to keep the bolts in the holes of what ever i took of, if all different to the point of really getting screwed, and for the ones that are all the same, bag and tag, put the bag on top of the part you took of, can f it up.

At least he has the balls to admit it and is doing the right thing. Otherwise we would be seeing a thread titled. "installed an intake, but what the hell did I do wrong?"
What the **** does this have to do with installing an intake? I sure as **** can install an intake/air filter, but I'll be damned if i have to put a computer together. Does that mean I have no business working on a car?

idk about most of your towns where you all grew up, but when i went to HS we had a wood shop, metal shop, graphic arts shop, and a auto shop.
all that stuff is no longer taught at my old school, so kids today dont get any first hand experiences even at HS school for lousy basics.
i know guys who cant change a tire, its sad.

Speed I respect your choice to pay someone to do it for you.. I can't say I agree with it but it IS your choice... BUT I think you only problem is not a lack of knowledge... More of a lack of confidence. I do a little bit of computer work. I know that dealing with some of the networking issues are not easy by any means... BUT If you can tackle that then I have confidence that you could do most of the things you want to do if you just tried. That is my only point... Nice looking car BTW.

But the BEST way to learn is to get your hands dirty... I dont think anyone is asking you to go out and tune your car..... But take some chances and TRY to do some stuff.. There is ALMOST ALWAYS someone in the chat box that can help you in the even you get half way through a project and get stuck. Start with something easy and very straight forward like Spark Plugs or the intake. Very easy and will give you a little confidence. Then you can work your way UP to more complex things. You didn't start working on computers by jumping RIGHT into Unix did you....

If you go headers pulley tune and pay someone else to do it your asking for trouble. It seems like you would be to afraid or even unwilling to read a scan gauge on the reg to make sure everything is running smooth. Your going to pay a ****load of money to the shop initially and when something goes wrong down the road. Save your money dont mod, Im thinking a Prius might be right up your alley. sorry to be a dick but lets be realistic

Why is paying someone else asking for trouble? Do you realize how stupid that sounds? I don't know where you are from but shops around here WARRANTY their work. Shops give cars a safe tune not make it where it will blow up. Funny how there are more threads about engines blowing up on GP forums when the owner touched the car as opposed to a speed shop. I find that a lot of my speed shops are custom exhaust shops and most can't tune.

I can't wait for the "whats wrong with my car" threads..........and when he's asked what is done, his answer is "I dunno, I have to call my guy". His "guy" in turn, will have no idea what he had done to the car 3 months ago as I'd put a paycheck on they don't keep records like that.
He will then post a 46 page thread about how this "speed shop" caused his car to blow up and they won't put a new engine in.

Wow you must have some ****ty shops by you still living in the 1980's. All the ones around here have this revolutionary thing called a computer where they keep records of what their customers buy and what work they(shop) performed. Maybe its just the Dallas area though.

Lmao, I suppose u in proximity to the most stand up, upgraded speed shop in the country. Most "speed shops" will give you an invoice. So a PCM tune is marked on ur invoice as "pcm tune". It will NEVER list exactly what is changed and what values are used.
And with that said, Dynotech Performance was the best shop for this platform in the COUNTRY........( I'm sure you have no idea who I'm talking about, because u havent been around long enough) and they had one computer from about the 80's. All Eric's invoices were hand written.

Nope, he can't win because IMO, their are about 200 shops in the NYC metro area that will tell you "yea we've worked on them before, bring the car in". Every single shop you call will tell you the same exact thing.
