My '99 gtp when i first got her and my mom's '02 monte ss
 


I've seen plenty of monte's with the checkered flags. So I'm not sure but I am sure you can find a decal that would easily do the trick.
 
just a strange newbie question.... was that Monte built off the same platform as the GP coupes??
 


She got the decals at a local shop, they are verry nice laser cuts and they look as if they were painted on. I have seen another monte around with the same decals, except the monte is blue and the checkered flag is white and that monte looks very nice too.

Yup, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo is built on GM's W-Body platform. Which is the same platform that Buick Regal and the Pontiac Grand Prix is built on.
 
i knew the GP was a W-body, just like our 97 Cutlass Supreme, but i didnt know the Monte was.. i just figured from the above pic... now i have to ask... Impala?? W-body also??
 
hmmm. good to know i guess.. but didnt the Monte only have 3.1 and 3.4?? same with Impala??

sorry i dont know much outside of the GP GA and Cutlass supreme 89-97
 


Thats ok now i can teach you about the monte, in 2000 they changed to the body style that you see above, they came equiped with 3 engines, the 3.4 which produced 180hp and 205 trq lbs-ft. and then the 3.8 series 2, 200 hp 225 trq lbs-ft and then they had the l67 240hp 280 trq lbs-ft. same for the impala. Now i think they should of put the same 3.4 that they had in the monte z34 it was a dohc and it produced i think it was 215hp but that out powered the 3.8 so they didnt.
 
your mom's nice, i mean her monte lol. i remember that pic what happen i haven't see for a while now. she joined the club about same time as you.

This is true, however the L67 didn't get put into the Monte Carlo's and Impala's until 2004.
