Hi, can someone show me what tool i can use to see how much knock i have
i kind of understand knock (from the sticky) but i am still a little confused.

i really just want to understand how to monitor it and how to if i am correct retard it?

Knock retard is done automatically by the PCM. You don't have to worry about that. On the other hard, reducing knock retard, or KR, is important in both engine safety and efficiency (hence power), since the need for retarding is an indication of knock, which is bad.

If you wish to constantly monitor either knock or the degrees of knock retard, you will likely be looking into installing an Aeroforce Scangauge.

okay that makes sense. now is there another way of doing this asside from the aeroforce gauge (love it ut dont wanna spend 250$

Theres another scan gauge that displays four parameters at once and mounts best on top of the steering collum, can't recall the name. Its slightly cheaper than the Aeroforce.

That's neat. It's not terribly specific, in that description, though. Will that display KR and boost?

Oh hey, this is available at Autozone.

Hm. For me, it represents an air vent I don't need to lose. Glad I found out about it before picking up an aeroforce. Now I just have to figure out what, aside from appearance, would justify the cost of the aeroforce for me.

I have my Aeroforce set to flash the red warning lights at 1.1 degree of KR. It will also record data, if you can figure out how to do it. It's a pain for me to program, but I like it so far. Don't know if the Scangauge II will record or give warning lights

Yes an aerforce guage is better than the scanguage..but if you dont want to spend the cash for an Aerforce a scanguage can be had for around 150.

this went from a how to scan for knock thread to a debate on whether a scan gauge or an aeroforce gauge is better. lol
