Alright I need to figure this out before I blow up my car! Here are the mods I have done. I have a 3.35 pulley yes I know its probably too small. I have a cold air intake, ZZP pcm, autolite 104s, cat, u-bend and resinator are all DELETED! I have new fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator. 180* t-stat. The problem I'm having is the manifolds are getting hot and glowing red when I'm on the gas a lot. Now I have heard I'm running lean. I'm getting dtcs saying bank 1 o2 sensor lean. Buit yet my oil smells like I put a gallon of gas in it. Now to fix the lean can I go with higher volume injectors?? I will be getting headers very soon. I know I should go with a smaller pulley as well. But I'd rather not and just add what I need to make this thing work! What can I do?? Any help is appreciated

Fuel smelling oil is bad. Probably means you've smoked a piston or ring.

As for lean, yeah, you are lean if your manis are glowing. That's bad btw and I'd suggest fixing the major vacuum leaks etc quickly. Do you have a maf screen in the TB?

Keep running like you are and you'll be replacing a motor soon.

I took the screen out of the tb.and I have to drive this car, its my daily driver! As for vacuum leaks I've checked for them by spraying parts cleaner on all the lines and it didn't change the idle. So I'm assuming I don't have any. How can I check if I have a bad piston or ring?

Ok, put the screen back in. Likely that's 95% of the lean issue. Some cars take this well and other don't. That's why they come with it..to ensure the air is always read properly by the maf

lol you guys are too funny. a 3.35 is just about a 3.4, so what the hell is the point of changing it. if he goes bigger, he should go back to stock.

Here's my thought on pulley swaps. If your worryed about trashing somthing then dont do it or put it back to stock. Be Smart about modding. You want to drop pulleys but your unsure as to what's going on or how the car's taking to it. Well buy a scanner. At least an Aeroforce scan gauge. It's a hell of a peace of mind and it will pay for it's self pretty quickly. No point in throwing random part's at the car if you have no clue as to what it's doing. I'd look into getting that lean issue handled soon or you might be looking for some nice walking shoes.
