I've been a ford guy since I was drivin cars over 10 years ago. This is my first GM product, and I've never seen this 'second gear start' switch. What is it and what does it do? I don't have an owner's manual to compare, and no mention of it with the Haynes manual....
 


Lol,as a Ford guy you should know about second gear start.

Mustangs use second gear start,that is why when racing in a mustang you always drop it in first for taking off.
 
I've always had manual 'stangs, and I've never seen Second Gear Start on any Stang I drove... I had a 1995 GT Vert, 2002 Coupe, 2000 GT Coupe, 2003 Mach 1 Coupe

Soon as I get my $$ from getting burned in a housefire (Im a volunteer, and I'm sure someone guessed by my name)... i'll be picking up another 99-04 Stang, I'll take a GT and S/C it, or a 03-04 Cobra if I can find one...
 
If I get time today i'll grab the IDS and jump in a 2010 mustang and show you what i'm talking about through the scanner.

I don't believe it has second gear start when shifting from park->gear.
Only when taking off while already in gear ie stoplight,stop sign etc..

And I don't know about the SN95 style,i'm only sure about the newer 04+ body style.
 


I've never driven the new (S197) Body, not my style (cept for the GT500.... which was 6-spd anyway), so I wouldnt know. Yea I figured it wasn't for park to gear, but i havent had the opportunity to use it otherwise....

Those aren't mustangs-the top one is a Shelby (GT500 is actually structurally a different car completely)
Shelby gt's are just mustangs with bolt ons though-NEVER tell an owner that though..

Meh...still a mustang...just replaced a pony with a snake to make it look more intimidating and put a blower on a modular motor.
