Oil warning light

99 Grand Prix- Oil light has been intermittently coming on even though the level is good. Happens at low and high RPM's. Any ideas?

Thanks!

It is the Oil Level warning light. It comes on intermittently. I checked the oil level and it is good. The temp gauge hovers around 160. The motor runs strong. No knocking or smoke or anything like that.

I have not seen an indicator come on called Oil Pressure. Just the Oil Level.

Should I have the oil pressure on it tested? Does a shop do that or can I buy an over the counter pressure gauge at Kragen's or Napa or someplace like that?

Or can I just go with the sensor? Where is that located on a 99 GP non turbo?

Thanks.

If you checked the level and it's at the right area, the sensor is likely going bad. The oil level sensor is located on the side of the oil pan that faces the front of the car. I'd suggest swapping it out or checking the wiring at your next oil change or when it drives you nuts.
