oil: synthetic or regular??

i use syn blend now (in gf silvermist)but im giving motor a adapting period lol, but in my black 4 dr gtp i use full syn 5w30. i put the oil volume kit from zzp on and it said run thinner oil, and i will say mpg is a bit better than conventional. but everybody said it best just change on reg intervals and motor will last

i sure as hell can if i dont like the way it looks i change it the dic doesnt mean crap though its just a timer basically

good point... what im sayin is dark oil can still have alotta life left in it... im not sure how DIC works cuz i used conventional on a change once and DIC went down alot faster than when i use full synthetic. i put 6k miles average on synth changes. DIC says i still have life left.

This could be true, about 3500 on conventional and i was at like 20%

when synthetic shield was active on here... he explained how DIC works for oil and ****... sposed to be pretty damn accurate.

yea i could be wrong i was talking to one of my instructors he said his oil monitor was bs cause he would change it and then it would go down to slow like 4k in would say 60% when he was using conventional

I switched from regular to synthetic at 1K miles, bought the car with 6.3 miles on it. Have 123K on it now with out any problems from the oil. Have used Royal Purp, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec..... all with m101 mobil filter.

I also use a combination of the DIC and me. Also thought the DIC monitored amount of time idle, WOT, etc..... guess thats what an algorithm is. (its referring to GM's DIC) V
This system, like many others, uses a computer-based software algorithm to diagnose an engine’s remaining oil life based on a vehicle’s operating conditions, and records the number of engine revolutions counting backwards from the system’s reset point.

I just got my GP and changed the oil to Mobil 1 5w/30 with an m1-101 filter and I can't believe how much easier it 'rolls' down the road. I would definitely run synthetics.

this is what i've done since i bought my GP. i definitely like how it holds its color & doesn't need to be changed for awhile if i don't stomp on it too much. i've actually been getting on it a good bit lately since putting in my intake but my oil life is still at 94% after changing it about a month ago.
