Oil Smell...

crock

New member
I replaced my Valve Cover Gaskets in March. In areas, my motor is leaking are. Right below the snout onto the LIM and below the EGR on the block. My guess is my LIM. Im also loosing Coolant. I cant smell that thought. So, that is why I am thinking LIM. Some help would be much appreciated. I know you can't Diagnosis it without being here. My oil leak is small. For instance, Itll be time for me to change my oil in 500miles. The third dot on the dipstick is still covered. I do seem to have a small vacuum leak, so my guess is still LIM. Also, My supercharger gasket is soaked.

Thanks,
Nick

Since your SC is above the LIM. What is causing the SC gasket to be soaked? Which end is it soaked at, TB or snout?

The sc isn't leaking. I just pr new oil in it and I spilled some. It holds oil. Il get pics today of it all.

How's it going, are you still running the 1.9 rockers with stock springs and no head work? It could be a coincidence of timing with the valve cover gaskets, but it might be the valve seals if you don't see oil leaking anywhere.

Timing isnt the issue. You can simply see the oil leaking. Here Bill:

You Can see the oil on the LIM.

Right infront of the elbow, its wet. Not coolant either, its oil. I would dry it up, and would be oil there again.

I need to change it in 300 miles and thats how much I have lost. Not much, But still I smell it. And I feel possibly a slight vacuum leak... Thats why I am asking. Also to remember, LIM gasket prob has 35k on it and VCGs were done in March.

Thank You

I've seen VC's leak in a week if they were done poorly. The mention of your valve seals is a good one. The super dirty engine may be heating up that oil and causing the issue.

Please clean down the engine and see where the leaks reappear. That will give you the best indication if it's a LIM gasket or something else. Typically you don't smell oil from a LIM gasket, because it doesn't hit the exhaust.

The vc were done right. I don't see it being the valve seals. Its a gasket. It maybe vc. I haven't touched the heads since the rockers, which were done awhile ago. Could the sc gasket leal oil?
