Oil Pump

blueguy

The Blue One
Alright so here it is...0 oil pressure.

Drove to get gas the other night as I honestly haven't driven it THAT much since the GTO runs. Ever since I put this motor in about 3 months ago the oil pressure has slightly began to decrease little by little everyday. Got to the gas station and I put gas in her and started it up...blue smoke came out the exhaust...and...idled at 0 psi...then I heard it...tick tick tick tick tick...so I was told by a reliable source it might be the lifters not priming since there is no oil pressure, but to me it sounds like a rod :(

About to be totally done with this damn thing...if it is a rod that makes motor #4...and I'm not about to do another swap with no damn job...anyone think it is the oil pump like a few people have told me? Thoughts...?

Damn dude that sucks. Sorry bro. Well experience tells me to always start at the easiest or cheapest thing to fix. Man I hope its not a rod. Maybe it is a lifter problem? But like I said start with simple stuff first like the oil pump. I dunno. Wish I had a good answer. Hard to say cuz I've never seen ur motor or how it was built. Guess that's why u couldn't go to the drags last night huh?

Well...it isn't too easy to change the oil pump either...you gotta pull the coil packs/bracket, water pump pulley, power steering pump and then the front cover...not to mention all the small stuff that goes along with it...

And here is my motor as it sits this morning before I start tearing into the bish :(

Oh right on. Well it would def. be cheaper. Nice motor by the way. I like the painting uve done. Looks like u painted ur sc black. I like that. Uve got headers right?

the oil pumps dont fail. they are run off the crank. if your motor is spinning the oil pump is working. my bet is something got ultra clogged and stopped flow. either that or one of your bearings finally let loose and also stopped an oiling path.

if you ran the car for more than a minute without any oil pressure start looking for another one.

another motor? oh well...see it is odd...I let it sit for the past 2 days and I started her this morning without the blower belt on...25psi at idle...so who the hell knows...gonna try tearing it apart sometime today or this week as it isn't by biggest priority right now...job is...

i wonder if your oil pickup was clogged. if that is the case there is a big chunk of something down there.

IT could also be that the oil was thicker since it was cold. Which was causing the increased oil pressure.

Are you sure the gauge is not faulty. Eliminate that first.

Yes. The lifters were ticking becuase they were not getting pumped up. That is what that is all about.
