Oil Pressure.....

So I spent a good portion of the day yesterday working on a buddies car. His car has an issue with oil pressure. One night he was driving it and the Low Oil Pressure light came on and then the car died on him and he had to have it towed home. The next day it would start, but I advised him to not drive it and get an oil pressure gauge to see if he had in fact lost oil pressure. He hooked a gauge up to it and upon a cold start it will make north of 70#. And it stays there till the car enters closed loop. Then after closed loop it drops about 10# every 10 minutes. Yesterday we took the rockers and pushrods off and cleaned the entire top of the motor to reduce the chance there was a top half blockage. Well upon startup it does basically the same thing. The real issue I see now is that when it reaches about 40# it starts to get a low end screech or squeal. So I am thinking the block is toast. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on stuff we can do to fix the issue and prevent doing a motor swap.

if you hear is squealing from the bottom end my guess is once the oil warms and thins the pressure drops due a bad bearing.

its time for the Dr to step in and replace its heart.

Are you sure the low end sound is from the motor? I know it's a shot in the dark but I wonder if it's just an accessory or a pulley making noise? 40psi of pressure is good normally at full hot. I guess anything is possible though.
