Oil pan smash

My wife decided to take my car down a dirt road the other day. ( don't want to talk about that. Not happy) she bottomed the car out or something and dented the oil pan real good and the tranny pan a little. The tranny isn't leaking but the oil pan is. What are the chances that I could tighten up the bolts to slow the leak? It's wet on the pan but is not leaking fast enough to actually drop on the ground. I really don't want to change the pan myself and it won't be untill next summer when I have enough money to pay someone to do it for me.

That's a tough one. The pan is going to need to be replaced. It's a pain to do but it's manageable

It's always worth a try to tighten the pan, but it probably will not slow the leak down. GM came out with a bulletin years ago about oil leaks from the pan. They now recommend a bead of silicone on each side of the gasket to prevent it from leaking.

is there anything that I can put around the joint as a temporary sealant for the the winter? I just wonder if it will get worse as it gets colder.

Likely your pan was seeping before she did the hit. Heck..your subframe is right there guarding the pan. If it's seeping.. I say leave it.
