oil overfull again

Eh, I own a 06 Saturn vue with a Honda engine\trans in it. Does this make me a "Honda owner" or does that not count :)

BTW. We're getting off topic. What was the original problem? the engines oil level went UP? oil very often smells like carbon\gas due to blowby and what not.

is the oil clean and cosmetically ok other then smell?

oil is clean and looks normal, i have changed it many times now trying different things to figure this out and everytime i change it start it and make sure i fill it right to the full line, drive it some and it always ends up a quarter inch over the full mark and smells strong like gas

I'd think leaky injector. How many miles before this happens? Like is it right after you change it, or after 3-5K miles?

I may have missed it in the thread but, have you checked all the plugs to see how each cylinder is burning?

changed it and went probably 50 miles and check it and it was overfull that fast, and no i havent looked at plugs, and to check the injectors i took rail off with the injectors attached and put paper under them and cycled the key and not a drop came out

When you check your oil level, do you do it with a warm engine?

After the oil change, do you turn over the car and let it run for a little then shut it off and check the oil level? That is the proper way to do it FYI.

yes that is how i do it, and i checked it when hot also changed the oil when it was hot, and checked it again later when it was cool

Shawn : but you do not know how the injectors are spraying then. All tho, 50 miles and enough leaked into the crankcase to move the oil up the stick? wow.

Personally I check my oil cold. Ive compared hot vs cold and its so little of a difference I consider it moot. I typically will check mine in the morning before starting the car. This way i can pull the stick out, look without wiping and just push it back in, however this will usually yield a slightly lower reading then when hot. However thats an entirely different subject.

Would a drippy\poor spraying injector be enough to cause gas to leak down into the crankcase and yet the engine runs good? This is beyond me. Only thing I can think of is to pull the plugs and check them. If you find one or two cylinders with dark plugs it might answer the question.

perhaps Bio or Matt have a better idea as they are a lot more knowledgeable then I am with these engines.

that is what i have been wondering, i have changed them out for another set of injectors from a gtp in junkyard, im thinking about buying a new flowmatched set from zzp

should i try a new set of injectors, i was thinking about upgrading to lucas 425 from zzp. is there a way to tell if mine are bad other than what i did?

update, 60 pounds compression on one cylinder so on with the pics

so whats the advantages of removing the balance shaft? how is it done and what needs blocked off for oil? and i was thinking about a xp cam while i have it tore down, what should i get, do i need to get new lifters? i know 105 springs it says are reccomended, do i need a upgraded timing chain or is the stock one ok?

just disable the drive it and leave it in for oil pressure.

stock timing chain for the XP is all you need.

Just pull the timing cover off and inspect the tensioner every 10-20 K or so to make sure its doing okay and replace as necessary.

checked everything out today, the 60 pound cylinder we pulled the valves and the exhaust one looked rough so pulled them all and lapped them, it will be getting new bearings, rings, timing set, valve seals and all new gaskets. If i dont go with a different cam would it still be ok to take gear off of the balance shaft? and how much vibration would it cause, would it even be worth it?

bottom end is done and back in car, just need top end things put on, waiting on ic core from minichopper. heres some pics of the wrinkle paint i did on valve covers and brackets today, i like the way its turning out
