Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

oil light flickering at idle

There was no scoring in the housing for the oil pump, I made sure it was packed with petroleum jelly when we put it all together as well. I have a feeling it's the mains causing it.

Series II does not need packing in the gerotor. Just fill with oil and crank for 20 seconds or until oil pressure comes up. This is how I do it and my motors have over 30K combined with no problems. I don't know if packing is detrimental but I know it is not needed like for the Series I.

I think we have reached a crossroads with used motors for this platform...not worth the risk. If one decides on a used 3800, it better be one that had been running less than six months earlier. If not, pull the crank out of the motor and replace bearings and check clearances.

Bearings are susceptible to long term inactivity. GM bearings are incredibly resilient if the motor is being used and the oil(synthetic) is being changed at every 8K. Let the motor sit in a junk yard for more than three years and bearings turn into a corroded & pitted mess. The slippery surface literally flakes off!

Changed oil cleaned spring and cap... replaced gasket with another one for the oil filter cover and new oil filter and everything is fine

you get a test pressure gauge on it after you finished? or you just taking it as the lights off so its all good......

i really do hope this one works, this car been a trip for the last few months.

Was the gasket damaged? That would explain what happened.

Looks like you finally have some good luck Shawn.
