Oil Light Comes ON??? (The RED one :()

2002 GTP with 156k on it. Today on the way to work, 50mile drive, my oil light starting flickering and then stayed on when I pulled into the parking lot? I heard what sounded like a lifter noise coming out of the engine.
Had wife come to follow me home and the light never came back on??? Oil level is good and the engine sounds good no real noise. Drove home 50 miles with no issues. Let it sit in garage running for 30mins after drive, no issues???
Anyone ever have a problem like this??? I am nervous about driving it again . Have to the the GXP out early and it is supposed to snow tomorrow. BOO. Anyhelp would be great.

that light means you have 5 psi of oil or less.

Awesome. Thats is what I thought. Why does it only work go on sometimes though? Wouldnt it stay on? I need to get a gauge hooked up to it probably.
What causes a spun bearing. I have done all the oil changes and everyting for 100K. Crazy.
If and when it goes, I should just replace the engine?

spun bearings come from oiling problems, whether its lack of oil or water in the oil. i am a firm believer that EVERYONE should have an oil pressure gauge because the dummy light is already way too late.

if youre not mechanically inclined, replacing the motor will be the easiest route.

Pretty mechanically inclined. Do all my one work. Was looking I can get an 06 motor with only 80000K for like 600 bucks so might not be a bad way to go.
I agree I have the oil gauge in my garage waiting to go in so I might just install that and see where its at and drive it till it breaks. We will see. Thanks for the input.
