Oil Leaking

Alright, 1999 Grand Prix GTP stock other than ZZP Downpipe.

Car is having a cylinder 3 misfire at the moment. I removed the sparkplug and it appears to be quite oily. I was driving home tonight and All of a sudden the car started running like crap and then the Service Engine light started flashing which I know is indicating a misfire happening at the time. I checked that plug and noticed oil like all over the front of the engine and everything. Also saw that my dipstick was pushed up a few inches. I checked and was just about out of oil so I put some oil back in it and cleaned the spark plug and put it back in but still have the cylinder 3 misfire. I checked cylinder 1 and 5 plugs too and they were also fowled looking, like they were all dipped in oil. I checked cylinder 4 plug and it was the same way. I assume that cylinders 2 and 6 will probably be the same. With all this, still only a cylinder 3 misfire. Just looking for some thoughts?

PCV valve is in the supercharger. Black cap with 2 bolts holding it down, can't miss it.

You can do the shake test to see if you hear it rattle, but for the 3-5 bucks that they cost I'd just replace it.

Interesting. Alright, I know where you're talking about. But do you have an idea as to why cylinder 3 is misfiring? I have another spark plug I could put in its place, but I'm concerned about me putting in another spark plug and it instantly getting ruined like the current one and causing a misfire again. And, I live about 15 minutes from town and have work at 6am and classes throughout the rest of the day >.<

Update. I did replace that spark plug and to no avail. Put a new one in it's place and instantly the problem returned with cylinder 3 misfiring. Still only cylinder 3. The plug I pulled out of cylinder 3 was drenched in oil too.

do a compression test. the rings maybe blown causing blow by. if the oil dip stick was pushed up thats never a good thing.

I had a compression test done about a week and a half ago, they said the compression came back fine. I will see if my grandpa has his compression tester still and do the test myself. If the compression is low, what could be the causes of that?

bad rings on the pistons, or chipped pistons. but you'd have smashed plugs on every cylinder already if the pistons chipped.

or the pvc is blocked solid.

I was looking for the PCV on Autozone's website and wasn't seeing anything that looked like it would be the part I needed? But then again, I'm not sure what the part looks like. I was thinking about, if my car was driveable, going to Autozone tomorrow and just pulling the part out in their parking lot and taking it in and matching it up. But I'm not sure I want to drive my car too, and all around town with cylinder 3 misfiring. The car is running quite rough.

I suppose you could pull the oil cap off and see if you get a massive draw of air in or out of the engine.
I did that for a few seconds and yes, there was some puffing and the engine seemed to bog down a little bit when I took it off. It sounded like it was sucking and blowing air in and out.

Well, about to check in the morning to see if I have a bad cylinder 3 such as a hole in my piston or anything. Then going to do a compression test on the rest of the cylinders. After that, if everything checks out and if I can get cylinder 3 firing, I'm going to buy a supercharger gasket, upper intake gasket, lower intake manifold gasket, PCV valve, transmission fluid filter, oil filter, oil level sensor, all my fluids, and valve cover gaskets and going ham on Friday. Hopefully I can get all that done within a day o.O because it's pretty cold out. Glad we have Monday off of classes incase I can't get it done on Friday, busy Saturday and Sunday for the most part. Basically dedicating this weekend to my car and going to give it some well needed TLC. Exciting stuff

Well so far got everything torn apart down to the heads. Definitely had a bad supercharger gasket and the lower intake gasket was on its way out. It wasn't in the best shape, but it wasn't in the worst shape either. I broke the freaking T under the snout and right were the vacuum line coming from the MAP sensor connects to that T broke as well. Also, the coolant elbow was broke off in the manifold and also in the other connection point. Annnd my grandpa broke the clip to the MAP sensor plug on accident so, got a few things to do and fix on top of putting all the new gaskets on and putting the car back together slowly and carefully. I plan on putting the green coolant in instead of the Dexcrap. Got quite a bit of work ahead of me =P

i did mine in less then 3 hours alone, and taking my time.

advance auto sells these nice little white T's, a 2 pack for 2 bucks. (you need 2) new vac line is like a dollar a foot.

Well it's just about back together. Don't have a garage so got it in the unheated barn and in roughly 18* weather, took a bit longer than 3 hours. Like, probably a total of 10 or so but that wasn't straight working on it the whole time. Took a lot of breaks to warm back up and everything. Also, had to run into town to buy some things that my grandpa broke, and the oil level sensor that I forgot to buy the first trip. Pretty excited to have it back together, just gotta change my fluids now. I can't find the radiator plug thing I think because the brush guard is still in the way so I might just undo the bottom radiator hose and get as much out as I can that way. That and an oil change and it should be ready to go!

i found it easier to pull the lower hose from the engine, let the rad dump from there.

or flush it out the top hose. remove the t stat, take the hose off the upper side of the rad, fire it up the coolant gets pumped out. run the car till its clear coolant.

if you want full flush directions let me know, its saved on my pc.

Thank you, Scottydoggs. You're a manual of information!
Concern popped up. Put the car all back together, all the sensors plugged back in, all the vacuum lines plugged in correctly, new battery, no start. Turns over with absolutely no problem, but it's as if it's not getting spark or something. I pulled a sparkplug out and left it plugged in and it sparked. A lot of my plugs were bad because of the bad gaskets letting oil in the cylinders so I replaced all 6 spark plugs with new Autolite 606's. Still the same issue. It revs up to about 100rpm and then peaks up to like 150 for a millisecond and then drops back down, it's as if it puffs in some air or something and drops back down to the 100rpm range again and then puffs up again really fast. I just did a re-learn or whatever, turned key to on and pressed gas down 3 times and the service engine light started flashing and the fuel pump kept making noise. Turned it back off and went to turn it back on and same issue. Not sure what to do now. Anyone got any ideas? =/
