Oil Leak, Which gasket?

HOPPY

So i have been losing about a half qaurt of oil every two weeks and on cold starts the car struggles to start then when it does it revs up to about 2000rpm, also on cold starts a ton of smoke comes from the exhaust and it smells like burning oil. So looking at the engine and i can see that it is very wet under the intake manifold and behind the front header, looking at the left side of the engine. I've heard of some gasket failing often in the 3800 but which is it? Any info about the gasket or what other problem there is with my car would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thx, Hoppy

Lower Intake Manifold gasket. The originals were plastic and didnt hold up well. The newer ones are Aluminum and pretty much solve the issue.

Well, if you are comfortable working on your car, you can do it for the cost of LIM gasket, and maybe some fuel Orings, thread sealant and probably a couple other cheap things I cant recall and a few hours work.

Yea I acctually might do that after seeing that people payed over 1 grand to get it fixed, I've watch the tutorial N i should be able to handle it if my dad lets me but well see... I can't beleive GM hasn't had a recall with this yet:th_angry2:

If I end up doing the replacement myself I'll try to take some pics or a video to make another how to, but for the GT

Blue smoke on startup usually points to bad valve seals. Intake gaskets are also probably shot, along with the valve cover gaskets.

heres the video I watched, These guys make it look easy and I have a feeling It's not gonna go as smooth for me.... Would one of those gasket sealers and piston ring lubricants that you poor in the oil work as a quick fix or just a waste of money??

ahh common you can do it.
and for the record any additives that you use, if they do work its not going to fix the problem, just mask it untill it is absoluity a do or die issue. do your self a favor and fix it. asap.
