so i was installing all my new parts on my 97 gtp from zzperformance today and i checked the oil and its about a inch over full mark, looks normal but sorta smells like gas? so what could the problem be?, theres probably about 500 miles on it since i just put amsoil in.

there is def fuel getting in, it is happening when you shut it off....it sits and gas goes down below in the oil. somewhere the fuel is not turning off...probobly just 1

what did u do to it , or install thats possibly related to fuel. they possibly right inj sticking or leaking letting raw fuel back into oil. damn, u put in amsoil too. i don't know what to tell u. i'd drain it then refill but thats gonna suck. u don't need fuel thinning ur oil and washing your rings and bearings...good luck man.

didnt install anything fuel related only put no more than 500 miles on it since i bought the car wrecked and fixed/painted the whole thing, ran great, its in garage for winter now and i got some things from zz to put on it and i pulled the dipstick and it smelled like gas and was overfull. would the fuel pump still prime without the pcm being plugged in so i could check them for leaks now?

no the fuel pump will not prime without the pcm plugged in.

^^Exactly. I'd change the plugs and dump in some Lucas Injector cleaner...and some higher octane gas...like higher than 92+. Then I'd take off the fuel rail and blow it out with an air gun if you can and see if anything comes out of it...eg. buildup...then replace your injector O-Rings...they are like $5 or less. Also...since the fuel rail is aluminum...check to see if it is bent...as that happens VERY easily and there might not be an injector seating just right. That...could then lead to a fuel AND vacuum leak...like I had...the bracket that bolted the fuel rail to the LIM was bent a little...once bent back...fixed everything right up.

i have all new ac plugs in it along with new wires that i put on and i will check out the fuel rail, it doesnt look bent, how could i tell? and i will wait until i get the pcm in it and cycle the key with the rail off and see if any of the injectors leak

i noticed the vacuum line going to the fpr was cracked open, so it may have been part of the problem, i will still be checking the injectors, pcm will be here monday

While you're waiting on your pcm, I'd go ahead and change the oil and filter for sure before starting it even one more time even just to trouble shoot.

If there was no vacuum at the fuel pressure reg it would make you run rich as hell.

thats what i figured, way way to much fuel at idle. and @Joel I am going to drain it and put cheap stuff in for a while and make sure all is good and then i will go back to amsoil, says i should change 2-500 miles for the new rockers i put on it anyway.

Pluging my self in saying I sell amsoil. Did not no where you get it. I sell it about as cheap as I can with out losing money. Probably cant beat your dads prices. lol
