Oil disappearing?

I have a 2005 Base NA grand prix, 157,000miles.

130,000 miles had LIM job with gaskets, valve cover gaskets, etc.

The last two oil changes I have notice a reduction of oil. After 4400miles the DCI came up with low oil, I had to add about a qt back in. This oil change has had 1700miles into it and I check the oil and it was at the 2nd dot on the dip stick out of 4. I added approx 1/2 qt of oil in to get it above the 3rd dot.

I am not sure where the oil is going. All that I can see that could be a concern is sea-page on the oil pan. There is nothing on the ground.

Please let me know if these images look like an issue and if its oil pan or main seal issues. How to diagnose my issue?

Those motors do consume a bit of oil which GM considers accepable. A couple of my friends have 04+ with the same problem. Clean all of the oil off your block and pan and then keep an eye on it.

It didn't consume really any before.

Oh forgot to mention that I cleaned up the block with the last oil change and these are the results. So some sea-page.

Plan to swap the trans eventually, it is on it last leg after a soleniod / shift kit. Then I can get to all the seals.

GM considers 1 quart/oil change to be normal usage.

When you fill the crankcase, likely you bought the 5 quart jug. It's ok to pour in the entire 5 quarts.

Id say change it it every 5k miles, but when we had our 07 GP N/A we had to put in a quart after like 4-5k later. Only sometimes but most of it gets burned a lot in the summer over here, especially if you drive like a maniac like my bro, lol.

You say this started after your LIM gasket job, did you use teflon paste on all your LIM bolts?? If you didn't I'd recommend you pull your UIM back off and check to see if you have puddles of oil where the two bolts are under it. I'd bet the oil is seeping up the threads and pooling there, what's not burning in your motor.

I only started to notice this oil disappearing two oil changes ago.

I changed the LIM gaskets at around 130,000miles and what I used on the LIM bolts was thread lock. I did the whole job word for word from write ups found within this forum. GM aluminum gaskets were put on, with Copper RTV in the four corners before and after. Torqued to spec, in sequential order.

Not sure I want to pull the UIM just yet. Will monitor, what other signs would show this?

I had just replaced the PCV when I did the LIM gaskets, could it be bad already?

i go through a quart inbetween oil changes. only started happening around 100,000km or so. but hasn't got any worse. It is definately normal i had a discussion with GM customer care on it after the dealer wouldn't do anything on it when i still had warranty

Not enough there to be worried about. I see you live in MI. aka...where spring is trying to spring..but can't get it's act together. Like us here in CT you are having some nice days then cold days. That crap adds moisture. Start and run the car.. pull the dipstick ....no milk, you are safe.
