Oil dipstick question

The yellowish plastic on the inside of my dipstick is broken in two. The plastic piece now goes down the dipstick to the hashmark indicator.

I have an extra dipstick but from my Buick Regal, could I use it?

Great, thanks for the info. Is there any danger in leaving it the way it is for awhile? That is, drive it that way until I can replace it with one from a Buick Regal.
Would the dipstick fall into the dipstick holder into the engine?

You should be ok, but I had the same worry.... will it fall down into the engine if the handle falls off. I fixed mine within days of noticing it being broken, but I would be concerned for sure. Either remove the dipstick all together, or find a way to attach it to the tube (cable tie or similar).

For what's it's worth, mine broke too, but part of it came free and fell down the tube blocking it! This left my dip stick sticking out 8 inches or so, making a reading impossible. Very cold at the time, so I had to pay a local garage to fix it for me :>(

If you have one, why risk waiting?
