Oil change indicator light

Hello,

I have a 2006 grand prix that's in great shape. I had an oil change at the end of March. The other day I was driving and the message "Change Oil Soon" showed up on my dashboard. I am still 500km under the "recommended" 5000km. I checked my oil and all looks well.

Any reason why this message would be showing up?

it wasn't re set when the oil change was done.


pretty sure if you turn the key to run, then push the gas pedal 5 times to the floor fast it resets the oil life.
 
Doesn't the DIC have an oil life monitor and you can hold the back or whatever button it is to reset it?
