Oil Brand Preference?

i change my oil every 3,000 miles, so i just get what ever is on sale. oil just cost to much these days.

i remember when a quart of oil was 90 cents. and if you spent $2 you felt ripped off lol

GP GT and Bonneville get standard Valvoline
Vic gets Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic
MG's get Valvoline VR1
Nissan gets Valvoline

So far no issues relating to oil, but as said as long as you change it on time then you should be good. The only brands I won't personally use is Quaker State and Pennzoil. Just seen too much I didn't like w/ Pennzoil in other motors.

I know it means nothing for the most part, but i'm just curious if there is a brand you guys usually stick with.

Amsoil full synthetic, annual oil change, nevermind how much driving done in the past year, just change the oil once a year.

okay you caught me I was too lazy to search this one. anyways forgot to mention I had a GT

Which bring up another question. I have an 04 gt and I just got the new insurance card which says I have a GT2. so, question is what is the difference between GT and GT2. and no, I can't use search atm

GT1 and GT2 are like the Base and GT of my year, I've got a 2005 GT. It just adds a few "luxuries" like power seat adjustment, steering wheel radio controls, etc.

I personally use Quaker State Full Synthetic 5W-30. It's barely over $20 for a full 5 quarts at the Walmart that's close to me. I was skeptical at first since, you know, it's sold at Walmart... but about 2,500 miles in everything's great. I got about a 2-3 extra mpg on average, and it's running very smooth at about 88,000 miles.

For a filter I got a Fram Ultra. Be careful with Fram filters, as a good portion of them are junk, but after seeing a Fram Ultra torn down on another forum, I was very impressed by the build quality, and they're still very cheap.

As for oil change interval... I'm honestly not sure. The filter actually states that it is good for 15,000 miles, but I just can't feel safe doing that. I'm sticking with synthetics now, so either every 7,500 or 10,000 miles, probably do 7,500 to be safe.

Next change I'm getting two filters, putting in a new one along with some Seafoam in the crankcase to clean it out and actually catch the junk, hopefully quieting a sticky lifter in the process. You can hear the faint lifter tick after it's warmed up, and it's not constant, so I'm hoping it isn't actually a bad lifter or a loose rocker bolt etc.

Castrol Edge Synthetic and oem filter. I change it when the oil life says to replace it

10w30 offers no benefits over a 5W30.

Its thicker at start up, meaning more wear.

Once warm, there is almost no difference.

If you want to clean your engine, start buying pennzoil and change it slightly more often than you typically do.

I use some fresh honey from the bee farm in my back yard.

Oil changes take forever and smell very weird.
