Oh No!!! Another Painted Bumper Thread (Rear end complete)

Re: Oh No!!! Another Painted Bumper Thread

Well had some time yesterday so I decided to go ahead and paint the rear bumper and I must say that for the first time the rear end of the car looks damn good.

After 2 light coats and 1 moderate coat

It got too dark for decent pics so I snapped these a few minutes ago

For whatever reason it's really tough to get a decent photo of the black.

Thanks. I wan't sure on the rear at first but now that it's dried and I cleaned up the tape residue it looks amazing. First time I actually thought the rear of the car looked good.

About that, why didn't you just use newspaper and painters tape?

It was painters tape but it'd been in the garage for a couple years so the heat and humidity must have gotten too it. Didn't feel like taking the time looking for some newspaper. All I had right there was the yellow book. Oh well only about 30 seconds extra of cleanup.

Oh, I'm used to the blue stuff, so I assume if it's not blue it's not paints, same with electrical tape, but electrical tape I guess colors mean different things. Blah blah blah.... oh what?

sorry to bring an old thread back to life but i have bronzemist too and ive been dying to see what the black would look like so i search and bam...here it is. Looks good bro. i think i know what im doing soon

Not a problem. I really like the way it turned out. However I suggest using black primer as I have a couple of rock chips and it chipped the outer layers but didn't affect the gray primer. I may end up redoing them this way

I presanded before I primed and then lightly after. Didn't do any clear coat because the paint I used said it wasn't needed. When I redo them I'll clear them for sure

I also have a Bronzemist Metallic but I personally prefer the dark gray/dark silver color. You did a good job with the color you wanted. Also, I am another one to vote for no bullets! Keep the bullets on the mustangs - they are mustang rims not for GPs!

This argument is so old and stupid. And it's Bullits, not bullet.

They would match the color of your car nicely. The gunmetal they come painted match pretty well to colors like yours.

But I kinda liked your bumpers color matched also.. lol decisions decisions.

hmm, my midnight blue 01 gtp has the bottom rails both in the front and in the back where it says pontiac as silver oem.

I think our cars would look cool without the foglights. Instead maybe some cone filters that poked out a little bit (could vent brakes or whatever) or if there were no fog light and you didnt want the astetic filter look, you could put functional hoses behind them (again brake vent or CAI to RAM air box) theres a bunch of places you could route air to... Im prolly gonna catch flax. but...
