oh crap, i bought a cam

Bio248

DUI BABY
welp, bought a cam again...going to need to do a small amount of head work to run it right, but im not sure quite what i need.

here are the cam specs (it is a custom grind, similar to a TEP):

224/224
.359/.354 (.574/.566 @ stock 1.6 ratio)
112 Intake Center line, 114 Lobe Separation

pretty sure i can just mill down the valve guides .100", but im probably going to do a light porting as well so i can get a little more out of it. i am not going to be running anywhere near what most people do as far as heads go with a large lift setup. i know i can just run some modded retainers and 130# springs and be good, but id rather do it the right way since ill have the car apart. dont think youll see this setup run soon. it was meant for me to put together when my current block bites the dust and i buy another l36/l26 block to get the car running again.

well..suggestions? comments? all are welcome.

The thing's gonna be a beast. Congrats.

Just make sure you actually run it, unlike the past two owners. :)

yeah, no doubt. i will run this one. i had a TEP before and didnt get to see what it could do so this one i want to see what i can do with it. the cam was severely mean. the guys at the exhaust shop that finished up my catback and downpipe said it sounded crazy for a v6. im not necessarily going to amazing times with it, but i just want to be able to have a retarded idle and make some decent power. my car will NEVER run 11s.

How'd I know it was either going to be a TEP or similar to one..... LOL

not planning on being turbo, but i agree with you. i just wanted a mean cam that i could run on the street.

ill be at the track before my motor needs replacing, so we'll see how it pans out. i will probably still shoot for 12s on stock cam as well.

people have done it before, it wont be a record or anything. just will make me feel good that all the money ive put into it isnt a waste.

That's awsome man. Can't wait to hear the results of how she runs with it. Hurry up and get the other motor done and get to running.lol!!!!

sshhh..im not supposed to be buying parts for my car. im unemployed and am trying to buy a house. if my woman finds out i bought a cam shes gonna kill me. :p

it wont be running for a while. when it is running i will be running an l36 block again though. high compression makes for awesome driveability out of boost. into boost...even better. :D

It does. Almost the best sounding cam around. IS4 FTW.

God choice on the cam again though.

dont expect to hear me saying anything about it for a while, but im sure you guys will hear about it when i finish the build. it wont be anything special. got any advise on head porting? i was going to do a little work to them so that i can make some more out of the cam, but i dont really care to get really far into it.
