Off road light question

I have them wired up and were working for about 2 mins while I was aiming them, then they both went out. What went on? I have two 100 watt driving lights from napa # 4509. They are wired so they come on with the hi beams. Is the relay not good enough?

do the high beams still work? you may have cooked the relay for them by over loading it with the new lights.

maybe run them with their own relay each and a on off switch.

I used the relay wiring from here. http://www.theminiforum.co....ng-front-fog-lights/. The lights are internally grounded to the frame.
The hi beams on the car still work so I don't think these anything with the fuses. I checked the inline fuse that's I added and that's still good. I haven't swapped out the relay yet as I will have to go buy another 30 amp one.

You will need to do some testing. Start at the lights and work your way back. Sounds like the relay might have crapped out.

I just replaced the relay and they're working again, but for how long is the question. What would cause the relay to burn up like that?

Sounds like you just had a bad relay. 30 amps is more than enough for two 100 watt lights; they only draw 17 amps. I always pair my lights with one relay; never an issue as long as you have you ratings correct.
