So I have been looking to get a obd to usb cable i found a bunch of them on ebay pretty cheap but none of them say they work on GPs but when i google it from what i have read any gm car 1996+ uses obd2 so dose that mean any obd2 cord will work i see there are lot of diffrent kinds like EML327 i really dont wanna buy the wrong cord so any help would be great

here are a couple different ones i was looking at the one says its for audi and vw but there both 16 pin obd2

anyways can someone shed some light and let me know what kind will work thanks

USB V1.4 ELM327 OBDII OBD2 CAN-BUS Diagnostic Scanner | eBay

USB OBD2 OBDII Vag Com KKL Interface Cable for Audi VW | eBay

Vag-Com USB Interface KKL 409.1 OBD2 AUDI VW vag 409 | eBay

ok so like the first one i posted what would you use that for?? i though the plug had the interface in it lol like the description pretty much says plug it in download the software and go haha just wanna learn

that one looks like it'll work but remember you get what you pay for, all those exra cars they list you have to pay extra for the software, thats basicly a unversal code reader with some pids

lol i know one i was looking at was like 1.99 how ever i have yet to find one thats not from hong kong or china estimated shipping 20-30 days maybe il take that chance its a couple bux so u think the first one would be compatible or are they all?

they all are, unless its just a super crappy software setup, it should work just fine depending on what your going to be using it for..what are you tryin to do with it anyways?

Lol to be honest I would ne buyin it just to buy it another tool to throw in the garage but it would ne nice to not have to run to autozone when one of are cars has a light on

yeah thats always a plus, i use mine for side jobs, so when i fix other ppls cars i wont just be throwing parts at it and hope im right...the one i have is real good, its like 80 bucks but after you use it twice it pays for itself,

can systems are on newer cars, its the way all the control modules talk to get other and monitors the cars inputs and outputs, the vw and audi is because there german and there let systems are differnet then others and the scan tool ppl wants to let you know that there software will work on there systems

yeah, volvo is the same way..basicly anything that isnt domstic is like that, becuase the manifactor wants to make everything harder for the indpendant shop thats not part of there franchises
