OBD II scan tool, keyless remote...

So I know for my 2007 GP GT I need to have my keyless remotes programmed by a dealership. But rather than spending the $50 to have them do it, if I bought one of those OBD II scan tools from the parts store could I do it myself? Does anyone know or have done this?
 


I think u have to use a tech2 like the dealer has, those scan tools u buy from auto stores are for looking up codes, but try it out n c if it works!

what i did is i took my 2007 down there with the new remote i found and told them that my remote stopped working. and told them i didnt have a second one for them to use. so they took it and looked at it and programmed me a fresh one they had in the back and it was all for free just as long as your under 36,000 miles.
