O2 sensor replacement gone wrong

So I've been getting O2 DTCs for the past few days, I delete them and they come back, so I decided to replace it with a Duralast sensor earlier today, but when we turned it back on the car would run like crap so we put back the old sensor and to our surprise, it still ran like crap.

The O2 sensor wires were extended a few months back to fit the headers so we proceeded to check the wires. After removing the tape we found no problems with the wires, so we taped them back together and connected the old O2 sensor back, but this time I disconnected the PCM fuse a few minutes, now it's running normally.

Did I miss something here? I'm not really sure what to do next, I was thinking on testing the signal on with the scanner to see if I'm getting the right voltage.

How did you construct your o2 sensor extension?

If your extension isnt' soldered, automatically solder it. Heat shrink and solder are you best friends when working on stuff exposed to the elements. Another possibility is if the O2 wiring touches the plug wires, it'll cause quite a stir.

The harness extension is actually soldered, I didn't do it btw, it was the mechanic who did it, but I guess he got it right. I may try to keep it away from the plug wires.

I like to run it behind (over and behind) the heater core hoses to keep it off the wires.
