o2 sensor or catalytic coverter

hey guys quick question. my service engine soon light went on and i went to the local auto parts store and got it read. It comes up saying either the o2 sensors are bad or my catalytic converter. Is there any way of knowing which o2 sensor is bad or if those aren't even bad and i need a new catalytic converter or is it just kind of luck of the draw?
Thanks

lol no smell and not really in power i've been babying it because it has a 3.4 pulley without headers waiting to get my stock pulley.. when i do start it it seems to struggle a little

I would clear it and see if it's an anomaly. If it comes back, go with an OEM cat or you will see that code a lot.

oh sorry i read that wrong... some reason i thought u ment like cleaning it and would autozone be able to do that

Often, an aftermarket cat will not "clean" the exhaust enough for the computer and through the code. If you do not notice any egg smell or have reduced power an easy fix is a piece of black electrical tape over the ses light. :th_thumb-up:

Starting in 2000 GM got tougher on the standards in the pcm. Before 2000 you could do almost anything and be ok. What year is the car?
