number 4 misfire

OK i just started having a problem with my 01 grand prix GTP it started misfireing and i went to the dealer got the code ran it said number 4 misfire i changed plugs and wires in the summer, so i just changed number four plug and wire, still nothen im gonna take fuel injector off and blow it out and then switch it see if it changes anyone else have this problem??

Most likley it's the wire or plug. Which brands did you use? Is the plug wire hitting the exhaust or the O2 wiring? Is the coil post firing for that cylinder?

Check the coils as well...if you swapped plugs and wires and it still acts up...even crappy plugs work ok for awhile...but I recommend Autolite 606's and some Duralast lifetime warranty wires if you don't ever plan on modding it.

thanks guys got it all figured out it was the coil. Now the only problem i have now is when on the gas and i go over a bump the car will vibrate even when i do a sweeping turn to the right but if i let off the gas it will go away.

So you make a right turn on the gas and it growls/vibrates? If so it sounds like the hub assembly on the left (drivers) side is going bad. Either that or a CV joint.

wow, im having the same issue with my car, its a 97 and same cylinder. i started it this morning for the first time in 4 days and fired right up without rpms jumping around, let idle for a few minutes, pulled the plug on that cylinder and it soaked with fuel. sound familiar, cuz im leaning towards an injector too, never thought of the coil.

hey dont know how yours acted to determine the coil was bad, but i pulled the wires and plugs from number 4 and 2 cylinders and plug them into the wires and had my gf turn the car over. number 4 fired weak, prolly cuz thats the one that keeps fouling out, but put the number 2 plug in the number 4 wire and it fired strong. did yours not fire at all?
