NSRT-4 to GTP

Just sold my neon srt-4 and picking up my first GTP Saturday, a red 1998 4Dr with 120k miles. I downgraded in price but want to make similar power to my neon, which was around 250-260. (For anyone who is about to say that's what these cars are stock: I know this but keep in mind the weight and boost difference.) I would like to make mid 300's for a fun but reliable daily. I'm still pretty new to these cars, but was considering going e85. So my question is, what is the full parts list specific for our cars to run e85. I will be doing minor mods like srai, exhaust, etc. but want to know what it will run me to make the power I want when I decide to go e85.

at 350whp these cars are no longer reliable. you'll blow up the transmission and put yourself back into the position of having to drop $3500 on a built transmission just to keep up with a basically max effort m90 setup (another $3000 on the motor setup...).

e85 wise you'll need some bigger injectors and a tune for it. so long as you don't need more fuel than about 42.5# injectors you shouldn't need a bigger fuel pump.

So whats a reasonable number to shoot for and still be reliable? Any suggestions on mods would be appreciated as well.

If you do anything beyond your 3.4/bolt on setup (big cam business, intercooled, etc) and intend on driving it a lot, you better start saving for a built trans now. The stock drive chain is pretty weak, 4th gear has a tendency to disappear in the pre-2003 vehicles, the clutch packs get worn, etc... There's a couple guys on the forum who have managed to get away with their stock trans for some time, but it's not mainstream.

This is what happens when you go fast:

Of course, even this is infinitely cheaper than buying a new "sports car" with comparable wheel hp numbers off the lot... Just be prepared to break things if you want to go fast in a car that frankly, wasn't designed to go fast.

I know, I've have a buddy that has had two gtp's and also replaced two trannys. I'm a previous nsrt-4 owner so I'm used to things breaking, haha.

My car before my GTP was an SRT4 neon.. I really loved it.. Just filed taxes and finally plan on doing some upgrading very shortly, going with headers, plugs, thermostat, flipping the dog bone, porting my s/c and filling the silencer slots , 3.5 pulley and a mod supporting tune.. I've owned the car for 3 years and I was debating getting a different car but mine is so comfortable so I've decided to drop some bills on it and hopefully love it again
