• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Now what to do...

Well, when I decided to get a used motor to put back in my car I never thought I would end up here. Cam, injectors, rebuilt heads, I/C, smaller pulley ...

Im afraid to put all the other mod $ into it to put it in the car and is takes a dump a week later. Going from stock to close to 400 chp (or more), not sure what to expect.

Now I have the short block sitting here and I don't know what to do. I do not know how many miles were on the engine (was told 80-100k). If i'm this far into it should I just have the bottom end done? And what does that consist of? And what would be the going rate on something like that?

Currently I have ready to go: 42lb injectors, 104 plugs, 3" downpipe, I/C on order, VS cam, 130# springs, 3" pulley, 180 drilled TS and a ZZP oversized radiator. Looking into CA legal headers and 1.9 rockers to use with the cam.

Thanks for the advice.

Ed

There's no use in building up the bottom end of these engines, they're very tough just the way they're built so don't worry about it.

As long as you have head studs...

And the tune is in check...

I don't see why you can't push far north of 600+...why wouldn't you be able to?

Hey, sometimes you gotta break some stuff to learn Joe lol. Need I remind you who just replaced a transmission in his car? And who helped put that transmission in? :th_king-evil:

trans was previous owners fault for lack of maintenance and you may have turned 2 bolts that were already started for you lol........remember whos transmission was replaced and drove 3 hrs home that night and whose car was stranded because of....well....ya know........

Personally I dont trust the stock rod bolts for anything after seeing 5+ 3800's with rod caps broken off and holes in the side of the block.

Is it as simple as just putting new main and rod bolts on.

Never mind, I read that I cant just put them on. I'll stick to what I have.

Thanks guys.
