Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I took my 98 GTP to 6-0 yesterday.

Raced a Pontiac grand am that have the similar looking tail lights so it was probably around the same year.. felt like my car was a mile away when I finally let off the gas. It was more of a test for me to see how fast my grand prix can go. It is stock and I had it up to 125mph. If they go any faster stock it was definitely taking a bit longer to get there. Thats the fastest I have ever been in a car with me driving so I was excited.

The other race was against some sort of small dodge. I wouldn't want to say it was a neon, but I could have sworn it had a dodge emblem on the car. Anyways they came up fast, passed me, got over in my lane and then started taking up both lanes .. Then they started speeding up and thats when the race began.. It was very easy to get around them and since they were taking up 2 lanes I ran up to their bumper and got over and around them in about a second. Pulled away very quick and never saw them again. I try not to leave any room for a fly-by when I'm on an interstate.

Neons were marketed as Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth at different stages of their production. If it was a late 90s Neon it would have a Dodge badge. The first Neons in North America anyways were Plymouths.

you weren't gonna get much faster, stock gtp's are limited to 127 i believe.good runs though. i hate people on the highway lol

Well I checked out some pics of a neon and a stratus on photobucket and I can't really remember the tail lights, but I am going to lean more toward a stratus because the back of that car looked sportier than a neon and the car I beat looked sporty in the back. It was definitely newer looking though.. probably above 2000.

So 127 is as fast as they go stock.. I was wondering because it did take longer to get to 125 but felt like it could get another 5 mph out of it. Its also kind of sad because the car shoots to 100mph like a bullet

that's really the main complaint with these motors, there's really not much of a top end. it's better with a tune and some other mods. if you're interested in making it quicker, the "safely modding your 3800" thread is amazing. just feel lucky you have a gtp, those of us with the N/A 3800 lose everything after 60 or so and we're limited to 107.

U need to start modding my friend. I have a N/A Prix an mines still pull hard even after 65 if i step on it i feel the torque kick in alot lol.

You've probably never driven anything other than a 14-15 second car as your GT is NOT fast...doesn't have a lot of torque either. Not being mean...being truthful. Go ride in something faster.

Always gotta be a hater :th_nanana: j/k

sounds like the first car the OP has raced with, I drive a 99 GTP and its slow next to my friends SS Maros and Supercharged Mustangs but still faster than most other cars with a stock powerplant under 250hp. and from a dig jumps like a bullet next to most under 350hp because they grab and go

nice kill, start modding, and dont let him bother you, hes like this to everyone :th_winking:

i mean i know i need a tune up, the oil's low and needs changed and it's still on factory plugs and wires and stuff like that. but the best way to mod a N/A 3.8 is to make it not N/A... either a top swap or a turbo kit and then you're talking. i took my mom's 95 thunderbird out for a spin last time i went home and there was no comparison after 60. the t-bird actually keeps going lol. my dad's sierra does the same thing and it's got to weigh more. and it has 33" tires. nothing short of tearing it down to the block and doing work on the heads or cam is going to make an L36 fast. and even then it'll probably be about gtp level.

Bet you get better gas mileage though :P

6 or 7 years ago I drove the body style after mine that was just a regular V6 and I honestly wasn't impressed either. My dad did my intake gasket a couple weeks ago and left the bypass valve actuator unplugged (I'm guessing thats the part) and if my car was that slow when I test drove it I wouldn't have bought it. But its plugged back in and tearin up the road again.

I noticed somebody mentioned about these cars gripping and going.. I haven't experienced that yet because its been so cold my car just burns out even if I'm already doing 20mph or so. Can't wait for the warm weather. I need to give mine a good clean.

Ive modded my N/A gt a good bit. Its up to stock GTP power if not a lil quicker by now to be honest. An i have test drove GXP PRIX, G8 GT, an my friends GTX. They all pull real hard but mines is up to with average V6's not tryin to target v8's or anything jus yet lol... I know i will easily crack 14's in it now from what the ppl i know tell me. Cant wait til kilkare racetrack opens up again. At poil i dnt know if u know alot of ppl up there with grand prixs but if u ever need the hookup on some performance installs wheels or anything i know some ppl for ya man... Im feelin really good about my prix now got it up to about 130mph last night on the highway lol...

thanks man, i appreciate it. i'm looking to get a set of 18's this summer, i need new tires and i'll be going back to work. idk about getting anything new, i'll be paying for classes and stuff. it's so hard not to spend money on the car though lol. i'm tryin to keep up with a friend of mine with an early 90's beretta that he's makin pretty nice. i know my prix can be just as sexy haha

I know a guy selling some eagle 18's. They look pretty nice alot of gps have them

I'll admit.. thats a nice looking beretta. But I still like my white grand prix. Never seen a white beretta. Usually the ones I see are always some sort of faded red or black and you can see the headliner falling down.
