Nothing on interior works

Hi new to the forum, i just bought a beater 97 grand prix for 300 bucks that needs work while i finish the frame off on my truck. Im fairly knowledgable with engines and most driveline components but electronics are foreign to me. The problems are, the dash lights are super dim, drivers window doesnt roll down, passenger rolls down very slow if you push the button towards the raise window position?, cd deck turns on and works but no sound comes out of speakers, amber lights turn on when i flip the headlights on but no headlights so only brights work, sunroof doesnt work, doors automatically lock once you get in and the manual lock doesnt unlock the doors on any side (main problem id like to fix as i got locked in it for a little bit :th_angry2:), only the button unlocks them. Anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing these problems?

Wow, where to start...

Sounds like a headlight switch is bad, with no lows and the dash being dim as the dimmer control is part of the switch.

Drivers window- could be the switch, motor or regulator. I would say the switch is probably shot.

Pass. side window- lube the felt guides in the window frame w/ a dry lube spray. And I mean soak them. These windows will break the regulator if they stick too often. The reason that the window rolls down when pressing the "up" position is that someone has replaced the window motor on that side w/ an aftermarket one and the plug is reversed. I've had that happen on 2 of mine. Just pull the door panel and flip the plug at the motor.

Can the stereo play a CD/tape? Do you get any sound that way?

Check the fuses for the sunroof. Other than that probably a bad motor.

When the person removed the door panels they probably knocked the lock rod off that attaches to the manual button under the inside door handle, which would explain why you have to unlock them w/ the power switch. Have to pull the panel and check it out.

Thanks fordman for the response. All of your points seem pretty spot on so im gonna start tearing the thing apart and see what happens. Regarding the manual lock, it seems to not wanna move either direction on both the driver and passenger side, almost as if as i press the manual lock, someone is pressing the lock switch to fight against it if that makes sense...

Yea, that sounds like the rod that conencts from the manual lock to the lock inside the door is locked/bent up. Hopefully an easy fix once the panel is out of the way. You should be able to see most of it with the panel off, but some of it you may have to just feel for.

okay so i guess the manual locks actually do move, you just have to put some force into them for them to move so the rod needs to be lubed im assuming. Any suggestions on why they lock everytime the door closes? Sunroof had a bad fuse so thats good now. other stuff im still working on
