Alright so I bought my 1998 grand prix gtp with 130k miles about 5 months ago. 3 months ago my third gear went out, and my D would work half the time, and about 1 month ago I only had 1st and 2nd. It threw codes saying that it was shift solenoid 2-3, so I replaced both shift solenoids got it all back together. I drove it for about 10 miles then it was acting up real bad, I only had second gear and my car would stall when I tryed to move from a dead stop. It threw codes p0742 torque converter clutch circuit stuck on, and p0756 shift solenoid B performance stuck off. Not sure if I should replace that solenoid or just get my tranny re-built or just buy a used one. Thanks for the help!:)
 


I would replace it with the best fit. So if a rebuild is acceptable and you plan to keep the car a while..great. Otherwise..I'd toss a JY in there and enjoy it.
 
Do you guys know if the re-built tranys from zzperformance are any good? My car is stock right now but I want to add performance parts
 
I'm pretty sure you have to use a trans from a 97-02 supercharged gm car. Although you'll have to change the trans lines on some of them.
