23's are child's play.

what you guys using for bait over there?

i towed my boat form the GWB, to the Delaware river down in south NJ/PA, we rode the river to the shallows and jigged for herring, these were 12 inch herring, then back down river, live lined the herring and landed huge strippers all day.

Hudson river and believe it or not, the east river here also produces some large strippers over 50 inches have been caught off shore.

On a boat we drift 3 in. Minnows on land where soaking bait. Anchovies, sardines
Or even back casting live minnows and mud suckers.

they do like live bait lol

bigger bait = bigger fish too

we also have to use circle hooks. big fine if your caught using a J hook. its a bit harder to hook em good. part of giving the fish a fighting chance. you have to let it run, let him eat it, then set the hook, if you set it to fast it comes right out their mouth.

That's crazy yea we use octopus hooks but at times I use circle hooks. Yea that's the plan. I used to cut up my frozen bait but as I get older I dont mind the shakers so I throw on a hole sardine/anchovies and the baby's dont mess with it.

I muskie fish with circle hooks and if i set the hook anyway but straight up I miss a lot of fish. Setting the hook to the side rools the hook out of the side of there mouth. I've only fished for stripers with artificial bait. They are a blast to catch though.
