no idle till warm

Alright so I finally found the problem causing the misfire. I must of fouled my plugs while it was missing cause I put my old ones in and mis went away. But anyway no my car won't idle. When I crank it will immediately die. Sometimes I have to tap the gas to start it. To keep it running I have to hold the gas but once it warms up its fine. Idle is steady when warm so I wouldn't think its a issue. Fuel pressure was fine so if anyone has had the issue please help. I have been searching the last couple days but can't find a direct issue or atleast a good starting point.
 


If you remove the IAC valve from the TB, it will most likely have carbon built up on the end of it. Clean the piss out of the entire thing with brake cleaner, and clean the hole on the TB. Just spray some on a rag and wipe the hole out. You don't want to load up the TB with brake cleaner.

Good deal. Not sure if the L36 one is longer, or yours was just stuck on the "in" position and looked shorter. These have little motors in them that pull the steel plunger back and forth to vary the air for the idle. If it gets stuck open you will have the idle issue you got here.
 
ea it was stuck open so I just swapped it with my old one. Also what would cause a p0171 besides vacuum leak unless I have a small one but I don't think so cause my idle is pretty steady now.
 
Usually just a vac leak. Could be the rubber "T" at the S/C, the MAP sensor, or even the accordian hose for the EGR valve. Often it will crack inbetween the folds and not be noticed. Try spraying some carb or brake cleaner around these areas with it running and see if the motor changes tone or speeds up/slows down for a second. If so, then that is a vac leak.
