no gas guage need help!

gas guage worked then worked crazy like, would go on full then sometimes read normal. then it just quit also the low fuel light is on all the time. i tried a different cluster out of a car the guage worked, it didnt work, tried a used fuel pump, nothing. bought a brand new fuel pump assembly still no guage. wtf! its a 01 gt grand prix.
 


I had the same problem on my 03 last week. I fixed it today by changing the fuel filter and now it works fine. I know it sounds igorant but sometimes its the simple things.
