No crank, just click. Replaced starter, still no crank.. help!!

I had a 97 chevy p/u with the same problem.I ended up putting washers between the the battery and cables for a better contact surface. gm cables have copper washers with 4 dimples that compress down;they eventually "stay down and lose good contact.It is a pain getting the bolt started in the batt. but this worked for me.
