Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

OK, heres the story. My wife took my car (97 GTP) to school and part way there she calls me and tells me it wont shift into high gear. I do the typical things like ask her if it's in drive and not 3rd,and she says yes, shes even put it in N and pulled it back down into D just to make sure. I was 200 miles away so I told her not much I can do, and we have driven cars that didnt have overdrive for years, so just drive it home and I'll look at when I get home.
On her ride home, just as she was pulling in the driveway, the engine stalled and when started it would die as soon as it was put into D, but not R. Later that evening she started the car again and drove up and down the drive, it would drive fine except still would not shift.
When I got home, I put my scanner on it and it showed 4 codes, shift solinoid stuck open, shift solinoid stuck closed, tourqu converter clutch stuck on and torque converter clutch stuck off. I cleared the codes and drove the car down the road and it seemed like it was not shifting into 3rd or 4th, on the way back to the house I rolled into the throttle, reving the engine to 4000 or so rpm(60 mph) and the engine died. now the engine will idle until you step on the throttle and then run real rough and die.
No CEL now.
any ideas what happened to my tranny, and how did I make it worse

Sounds like some pretty big issues going on in the trans and maybe stuck valves in the valve body, especially a stuck tcc apply valve. It takes quite a bit of debris to cause this to happen and a torque converter or lockup clutch coming apart will do this as well as a plugged up trans cooler. Is the fluid burnt or does it look ok?

Fluid was changed 15 or 20,000 miles ago and still looks nice bright red. when I changed it, it was a darker red but not burnt, just old (I thought) it may have been the original fluid. But I did'nt do a flush, just a drop the pan change.
BTW the car has 140,000 on it now
