For a 1999 grand prix 3.8 k engine tech support at NGK recommend laser platinum vrs the laser iridium plugs for my car. See link above which states OE is iridium. Why are they showing iridium as OE when the car came with platinum ?
I have called twice and gotten this answer from tech which was the same guy. Did not give a reason except that these were the plugs originally supplied to GM. Any one have experience with any of these 2 plugs. Or is there a site where I can get a better answer . The guy on the phone was not that friendly and seemed like he would rather be doing something else.
Sorry if this question is redundant but spark plugs" in the search box does not bring up what I am looking for although its probably because I don't know how to search.
 


Never use platinum plugs in a 3800, ever. Our igntion system will eat them alive and you'll get issues later on.

Buy AC delco 41-101 spark plugs if you are wanting direct replacements.
 
Thanks 5 finger. See great reviews on amazon. Was looking for dot on ground electrode because of double or weak spark system.
 
I def agree with the no platinum plugs. always iridium plugs. Ive always heard the the NGK while great on performance, will burn out quicker than ac delco. Ive always wanted to use the NGK, however I dont want to change my plugs every year.
 
Thank you all. Took your advice and ordered the Delco iridium plugs. Received them today and you can see the insert platinum disk on the ground part of plug and the iridium tip looks narrow and gapped correctly. Fell these plugs are superior to originals in 1999.
