next mod?

Well hey fellas what's up. I'm new to the site and liked it so much I thought I'd join up. I've got a 03 gtp with cai 3.4 pulley tb spacer and 180 tstat what should my next mod be? I would be happy if it ran anywhere in the 13 second range. Also I don't have a lot of cash layin around. New baby girl on the way. If anyone has anything they would like to get rid of for cheap let me know. Thanks alot

hahahahahaha. who in the crap told you it would be a good idea to run that pulley? whoever did is stupid.

you need exhaust mods and a good tune right now. that pulley is causing you to knock and you didnt even realize it. youd have probably been faster on a stock pulley and a tune.

Really? I don't know. all those things combined make my car move much faster than stock. I haven't heard any knockin and it seems like it givin me plenty of juice. What would u have done different and why not my way? I did plenty of research before I even bought the parts and there r tons of guys out there who do this for the first mod.

you wont hear the knock. its in the cylenders (to much hot air in the cylenders and the spark plug is igniting when its not supposed to, spark knock) go back and check out the kr stickey (knock retard) there is scanners you can buy to read how much or if any that your getting. you are almost gaurenteed to get some with that pulley and stock exhaust manifold (cant get the hot air out)

i would highly suggest headers and a way to get it scaned. also look into a tune.

Yup yup yup...I've got a '03 and man I can back it up...dropping a pulley size is the last thing I would do now if I could go back. I've got 2 busted motors to prove that.

I do have a DHP Tuned PCM specifically for your '03 if you want it. Shoot me a message if you'd like. But I bet you have a bunch of KR, get your self a 3" Downpipe and U-Bend Delete. For god sakes get rid of that U-Bend...I would just like to know what idiot told you to get a pulley first.

And if you say ClubGP...don't type it...cuz I'll know...since your in Shawnee check out www.kcpmc.net Lots of fun group/track/BBQ meets and such!! :D

a 3.4 isnt a BAD choice for a first mod, but it isnt a good one. with the knock you are pulling i bet a stock car with a good tune on it would pull a car on you from a dig even if youre making more boost.

now what you need is more flow mods to compensate for having more boost. id suggest headers and a GOOD intake.

Like what kind of intake r u talkin? I do have a good set of plugs comin with better wires. I guess I'm new to the whole gtp thing. But I know I won't blow my motor so assuming I get those plugs in and some exhaust and a new pcm would it run pretty good? If so how fast. Again I know I might seem like some jackass for askin these questions but so far I've gotten a lot of good input from everyone and could really use the help

bluegtp chiped a pistion with a 3.5 and more mods than you. but that was with a zzp pcm. that was probably the majority of the reason right there.

right now your probably knocking. when you knock, the pcm pulls timing, i think max timing is in the 14* area, if you knock up to 7* thats half your timing being pulled. reduced timing=SLOW. exhaust mods always help out. and a programed pcm or custom tune is needed. more fuel ect for the 3.4. tunes make a BIG difference.

wires and plugs are not really going to help with knock, you can get colder heat range plugs, but you wanna try and keep the hottest plug you can with out knocken. moving air around more efficently (headers, plog, downpipe, rockers, cam, or intercooler) is going to reduce knock. but i would say you deff need exhuast work. catback is not going to do anything for you, you need something in the header range. save up some money, get some headers and do it right.

Well I'm gonna put those colder plugs in and I found a guy in the area sellin his headers and downpipe for 50 bucks. Also found a shop that can look at my kr and possibly tune my pcm. Thanks to u guys I finally feel like I'm on the right track. Thanks for the help. If I do all of this stuff how fast am I gonna be runnin?

I sent you a message about the tune ;)

I wouldn't even recommend going to a shop because no one but Brian around here (Area47 on some boards) who uses HP Tuners does tunes for a $100+. I've got that DHP I sent you a message about and that is all you need for a basic 3.4" setup.
