Yes I have read the stickies.

Here is a list of my current mods.

- Wizaird CAI
- Ported TB W/spacer and sheild
- ZZP coils and wires w/ 104 iridiums Gapped at .055"
- 160 stat
- ZZP tune
- Front and rear plog w/ ceramic crossover
- 3" offroad downpipe
- 2.5" SLP cat-back

New fuel filter and fluids throughout.

I am still getting upwards of 6*KR at times with my 3.6", and 3-4* KR with my 3.8".

What do you guys think? Is this ordinary?

I am thinking i should have just gotten headers instead...
 


Get rid of the ZZP coils and go with stock AC delco

160 stat get rid of that too.. It's unnecessary

ZZP tune.. Could be a hit or miss.. It's generic may work fine for someone and not others.. Get a in car tune..


Headers would of helped more but ehh 3" downpipe is still a improvement over the factory crap.

As mentioned before, the 160* thermostat is unnecessary. I mean a 180* one is getting pretty low, but 160 just seems pointless to me. It would barely read on the temp gauge.
 
My KR was the same before I put the ZZP coils and wires on.

I do have an aero force scan gauge, that's how I'm reading my KR values.

I am running the stock thermostat for the winter months. The 160 is ran in the summer.

I may try a dyno tune in the spring.

With the mods I have shouldn't I be able to at least run a 3.6" ??
 


I blame the ported TB with no custom tune.

That is going to throw the MAF calibration off.

And a guess that the ZZP tune wants too much timing, but I don't have a ZZP tune for reference.
 
I bet most dyno shops around the metro here will rape you for a tune and half of them have never done 3800 before.

They'll charge you 500 bucks and change 7-8 tables in the whole thing.

I see your in Rogers, I work in Rogers. Good to meet a local person. If I was going to do a dyno tune I was thinking about DB performance. I've had my old LT1 on there dyno for a numbers run.

I don't necessarily want to pay for a dyno tune yet with basic mods. what could I bolt on to potentially reduce some knock? Rockers maybe...
 
I would throw a set of rockers on and see what happens. Worse case you drop a few degrees on KR and pick up a few ponies. It could clear up all the knock.
 


I was thinking rockers as well. I'm going with the YT 1.9RR and LS6 springs.

What else should I replace while the valve covers are off? Valve guide seals? Etc... 92xxxmi

I was thinking lifters but do I have to take off the SC and intake manifold?

I listed all my modifications for ZZP when the computer was tuned by them. I would hope they would take that into consideration. It wouldn't suprise me if they didn't.

What parameters on my aeroforce scan gauge should I be checking for timing and A/F ratios? Or anything else that could cause my KR?

The thing is, they can't tune for a ported throttle body. It's impossible to know how much air is making it's way past the MAF at any given time without data logging and having all the information right in front of you. They can claim that they can tune it that way but it's 100% wrong, always. Hopefully you still have the throttle body screen in there too, without that and a ported TB that air is going to so turbulent and unstable.

Also the aeroforce cannot read real time air fuel ratio unless you have their wideband adapter. You are already modded enough to be wanting to know real time AFR, so you should have a wideband in the car.
 
the aeroforce will display commanded air fuel ratio, but not actual. you need a wideband to see the actual AFR. you can also tell the aeroforce to monitor O2 sensor readings, but it is difficult to see because of the huge variance in numbers, and when it is important to see, you are at full throttle looking at the road. if you can set it up right, you can record the parameters with the aeroforce while driving in wot. it will record about 30 seconds. at full throttle your O2 sensor should read about 930
 


I'll just say there is no "should" readings. I've seen anywhere from 890-940mv with good AFR numbers still, thats why narrowband aren't not to be a trusted source.
 
I've seen where ZZP's throttle bodies skew the MAF values by as much as +15 on the LTFT's. Depending on what stage, the throttle blade doesn't even seal against the bore correctly.
 
I am finding a local used throttle body I will change it out this weekend hopefully and update you guys with my KR problem.
 
MeanGrn99GTP I ran a 3.6 setup on a gen v on my 04 with 1.84 yt rr stock springs, sd headers, 104s, and 180° thermostat.

If u would like I have DHP power tuner and I run to the cities alot if u want I can either set up up with my old 3.6 tune or I can run some custom tuning for u
