• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hello everybuddy...Ok this is my first non ford so be gentle....I have a 1999 GP GT with the 3.8 NA w/ AT...ok so through 20-52 mph before the tranny kicks into 3rd gear I have a very audible whine comming from the frt. end, I know that I need cv axles on both sides but is this whine ordinary when a cv axle goes bad on a GP? or is it more than likely I need a hub assyembly also....what other front end issues can i expect to see?

sounds more like a transmission problem to me , 1/2 shafts will give you a loud clicking in turns , bad hub bearings will give you noise at any speed and change pitch when swaying left to right. sounds like your having a transmission problem , pump whinning possibly. but first i would eliminate the obvious and start with replacing the shafts if you know they are bad.

First, welcome to our community. We are glad to have you here. I hope we can get you pointed in the right direction with your issue.

That said, we are in the Introductions section and if you could I would greatly appreciate it if you could post your question in either the 3800 Naturally Aspirated section or in the 4T65E section. It sounds, based on what you are describing, like a drive train issue and if it is, if you post in the 4T65E section we have what I would personally consider one of the nations best 4T65E tech there that goes by the screen name of Trannyman95. If its not drive train related he can let you know and then you can ask in the 3800 section.

Not trying to be a kill joy, just trying to keep all the information in the right places.

Are you sure the whining isn't related to power steering? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Hub assy usually more of a ticking/clicking sound when it goes bad?

Yea, I'd say PSP too. I get that whine every once in awhile when I'm EBing the parking lots. *L* Mine goes away though...pressure in the lines is no fun.
