New tune for headers?

So I have been thinking about headers, and jumped on a NIB set of Speed Daddy's for sale here on the forum, (thanks ffball33323!)....

Some may remember I bought this car pre-modded last year (3.4 pulley and supporting mods), which I generally don't do because you're forever backtracking trying to figure what's been done by the PO.

The car had the U-bend delete and according to the PO a hi-flow CAT installed. I added the P-log right after I got the car on the advice of guys here. It's also supposed to have a ZZP tune, but can't confirm this. Should I get it re-tuned with the headers in?

I have dual aeroforce gauges and one is set to KR. I can get 1.5-2 KR with the pedal to the floor, but otherwise stays at zero even in aggressive driving.

I am almost thinking of having it tuned just so I know what tune is in there. Any tuners in the LI area or do I mail it?

Tune Time Performance has done plenty of 3800's in the past. Nick P's GTP was done there. I think he had his H/C/I GTO done there as well. Not sure exactly where they are in NY, though.

1.5-2* isn't bad...but it isn't good either.

So I watch the KR all the time and it never goes above 0* unless I floor it, so I drive it to keep it out of KR. Would ne nice to get rid of it.

get them headers on so you can floor it..... lol

set the aeroforce to show timing advance, that way you can see what it is at wot.

stock cat back is fine. you'll need a cat to pass inspection. NY has some adopted dumb CA cat laws now. not sure if you can pass with a high flow or not. a shop wont install one now. im sure you could argue its been there for years type deal.

It passed last year when I bought the car, no issues, so headers shouldn't affect emissions. Was more wondering if headers changed the sound of the exhaust, and if should be looking at a Borla or other aftermarket. I know no additional efficiencies, again thinking about sound

On a side note I wrenched my back Sunday doing some home repair...up on the roof all day. The honey-do list never ends when the house is 100 years old. Friends recommended a local garage we have been using since we moved to this town last year, and the guys there are good. Thinking about having him install the headers, wondering what a fair price for that would be...

a shop might just rape you on a header install. no idea what they might want, but it could be 3 to 500 easy.

with my mods and a new ebay stock cat back, i put dual exhaust on my regal from a gtp, you cant even tell i got headers from the sound. its still quiet. how i like it cause most aftermarket mufflers sound like crap to me.

Did some Googling and came across this video on Utube, sounds like crap with SD's and stock exhaust.

Yeah I was thinking $500...this guy runs his garage like a Swiss watch....cars get fixed fast and right, with neat, quality work....but not cheap.

Like the old saying, you can have fast, good, and cheap, pick any 2. I'll call him and let you know.

OUCH...called the shop and the manual calls for 3.2 hrs of labor to replace the rear manifold and 2.8 hrs for the front. Soooo, 6 hrs @ $110/hr = $660, plus a little extra time for "fitment issues" on the headers, so figure $700-$800 for the install....this may have to wait until I get my garage built.
