New toy/project 1998 Sea Ray Seville

Got a great deal on a boat. Wasn't even looking for a boat, kinda happened at too good of a price to pass up.

1988 Sea Ray Seville. Comes with white motor case labeled as a Sea Ray 100. Original owner mentioned to me that yes they are Mercury motors and that this particular one is a 120hp in a 100hp case because this was a change over year for the motor. Came with the trailer, shed and all the necessary boating things.

So the bad.. it needs the floor replaced as this boat is known for having rotting issues. Apparently there wasn't a good place for water to get down into the hull from the floor. I'll be adding some places where it can.

Here's how it was being stored. Obviously it sat long enough that the tarps were gone.

Drove over with my compressor in the back of the truck and the tires for the trailer were flat, but still on the bead fo the rim. They both inflated without a fight. Miracle #1 Hooked the truck up and yanked it 3 miles home. I won't bore you with the illegalness of not being registered etc etc.. but I made it safely and w/o being pulled over. Took one picture of it filthy and headed back to my sisters bday party.

Got up early the next day and went out with my car wash bucket. Dirty was rolling off it with just a spray of water. Came pretty darn clean on the outside with just a quick wash down. I wiped down the pads in the front as well and they came reasonably clean.

You can probably see that I didn't get to cleaning the interior back from the windows. I figure since the floor has to come out, that'll be the easiest way to use the hose and have it all run out instead of making the already rotted floor more wet.

Touched the driver seat and it came right up with it's screws etc, as did the battery hold down. Removed the battery box/fish well or cooler etc. Floor is solid up front, back is coming out. Next up is the passenger seats and then take a ton of measurements for the new floor piece. Pull up the old stuff, figure out what beams etc need to be done and off I go with a new floor and carpeting.

Battery looked new, however it's at least 10 years old. Being a risk taker, I popped the caps off and saw it was dry. Added a bottle of battery acid and saw some activity. Tossed it on a charger at 2amp overnight so far. I'll see how it's doing when I get home tonight. $10 for the acid or $100+ for a battery. Let's hope this is miracle #2 possibly saving $120+ (I'm skeptical on this one)

Fish well... LOL. That's storage for your ski's dude. Nice find though. Looks to be in decent shape other than the floor.

I know the large space between the seats is the ski storage, I read that much. Original owner has the teak piece to go over it for me too. The battery box/cooler/well is on the ground outside the boat for the last picture. I have to redo a couple pieces on it as they rotted a bit as well. The fuel tank piece is also out in the picture. It was completely shot.

thats a nice little boat! good find!

It can be. Right now my short list to hopefully have it in the water is:
Floor
Finish cleaning
Get motor running
Fresh tires on the trailer
Extend wiring on trailer
Longer safety chains on trailer

It's a pretty short list that could have it in the water for the beginning of Aug potentially.

I think it'll come out pretty good. I did a quick porter cabling (buffer) on the oxidized red and it seemed to come right back up to full color. Once I have the interior and motor in shape, then I'll concentrate on protecting it further.

Thats awesome! I would love to have a boat. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pick it up for?

Floor needs to be measured etc and then I need to pull it out, make a new one and whatever structure. It's summer and this baby is meant to be in the water. That means two things.. floor and motor are the priority. Once it's in the water I can add a layer of wax etc
