Hi everybody i am new here and my name is Randy

So just recently I bought a 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix GTP 40th anniversary addition car

i was at my cousins house for a family dinner, and i started talking to her neighbor, he was working outside on one of his mustangs, he has three real nice ones. i noticed he had a GTP parked around the side of his garage, so i asked him about since i have been a GM man all my life, he told me it was his dads car, so I asked what he was going to do with it, he said if you want it i will sell it to you for $200 dollars, but it needs work. ( i already decide to buy from him. ) so i asked him what was wrong with it, he said it needed a battery, fan belt and a pulley, so i looked at the problem, the idler pulley seized and the belt melted off, so i went to the bank and pulled some cash paid the man, then went to the local auto store bought the idler and belt for $68 dollars installed them put a 3 day permit on it and drove it around, i was expecting more power than it had, but for a $268 dollar car it is amazing

So now I am here learning about these cars i plan to keep this one

Welcome.

That 40th looks to be in decent shape under all that mud, a good thorough detailing and it will look 10 times better.

There might be a bit more wrong with it than just a pulley and a belt, I would suggest doing a thorough check on the engine and trans, check all off the fluids, use a scan tool if there was a check engine light at any point, post a thread with anything you find, there is a lot of people on here that know these cars better than their own names. Lol

Outside of that, just keep reading. Lol

Welcome to the forum!

looks good lol... All you saved $ can go into mods now : )

just kidding... Looks like it needs a bit of TLC, rear tail lights, etc. How many miles? I would do a complete maintenance detail to it, filters, plugs, fluids, brakes, etc., a complete detailing exterior and interior. Tires? Drive it around a bit and see how it is, then move on to suspension, then headers, then more! : )

But that's just me, there's plenty of reading material here. Check the safely modding thread, read it 12x and then go from there.

good luck!

He typed it in the title and in the body of the post. I doubt it's a typo. I was only pointing out his mistake. It seems you are the one that needs to lighten up if you take so much offense to my correction.
